Wimmer Aiming For High Speed Record At Bonneville Speed Week, Utah.

During Aug 16 - 20, 2010, Wimmer will aim to for a high speed record with the "smaller" car (pictured) at the Bonneville Speed Week, Utah, USA. Final preparations are currently taking place and the entire team is looking forward to some strong test runs and, hopefully, breaking the car category speed record. In August 2009, Wimmer passed his A, B, C and D high speed drivers licence at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Eyes On The Next Record To Break: The World Landspeed Record.....!!

Together with The North American Eagle™ project,  Per Wimmer  is aiming to break the existing land speed record of 763 mph by reaching 800 mph!

Ed Shadle and Per Wimmer are the two co-drivers. Per completed his first test run in Nov. 2009 and the next test run  is scheduled for end Sept. 2010. The purpose of the test runs is to build up speed safely, by using advance computers and aerodynamic modelling techniques

Per Wimmer, together with Ralph Mitchell, became the first two persons to successfully complete a tandem sky dive over Mount Everest on Oct 6, 2008. 

The historic jump was the culmination  of  weeks planning, trekking and waiting in Nepal.

A film crew has followed the First Ever Everest Sky Dive Expedition and has documented the whole adventure day by day.

Wimmer, Branson And Virgin Galactic

Dec 7, 2009 - Today, in Mojave, California, the Virgin Galactic spacecraft, SpaceShipTwo, that is due to take financier and adventurer, Per Wimmer, and others, into space was unveiled to the public for the first time by Sir Richard Branson and Burt Rutan.

The unveiling of SpaceShipTwo marks the culmination of years of work and follows the first flight of its mothership, WhiteKnightTwo or "Eve," at Oshkosh in July earlier this year. Per Wimmer commented:

""Today's unveil of SpaceShipTwo means that we are now seriously close to getting into space. No more fancy powerpoints; we now have a full scale spaceship and a mothership and I am sensing the smell of rocket fuel......A bit more testing and I am off to space.....I simply cannot wait......I wish I was flying to space today...."

Adventurer and global financier Per Wimmer runs his adventures, including space, through Wimmer Space and his own London-based investment bank, Wimmer Financial. Per is due to become the first Dane in Space.

Wimmer Space supports singer Alicia Keys' charity efforts, Keep A Child Alive, helping disadvantaged African children to realise their dreams. Alicia Keys gives an intimate concert in London to 270 charity supporters. Wimmer also support Clic Sargent, a children's cancer charity, together with the six number 1 single hit UK bank The Sugababes (Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen) at the London Hurlingham Club.

Together with fellow Virgin Galactic Founders, Per Wimmer is at Oshkosh Airshow for the first public flight of WhiteKnightTwo. Sir Richard Branson and Mohamed Al-Husseiny sign agreement whereby Aabar of Abu Dhabi buys a 32% equity stake in Virgin Galactic for USD 280 M.

2008, Dec 2:

XCOR Aerospace reveils their first astronaut, Per Wimmer, as well as their main distributor, Rocketship Tours, at a press conference in Los Angelse, USA. By the same token, Per reveils his third planned trip to space.

        

2008, Nov/Dec:  Publication of two books in which Per Wimmer/Wimmer Space contribute: "Professional Passion" and "Mysteries From Space."

 
2008, Oct 6:

Per Wimmer, together with Ralph Mitchell, makes world history by becoming the first humans tandem sky dive above the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest. On Oct 6, 2008, the Pilatus Porter airplane flew the two up to an altitude of 29.500 feet (approx 9 Km) - just above the highest peak in the world - Mount Everest (29.035 feet or approx 8.8 KM). The outside temperature was minus 50 degress C (incl. the wind chill factor) and the free fall lasted for one minute at an average speed of 200 Km/h with full oxygen breathing equipment and Per and Ralph landed safely at 12.350 feet (approx 4 KM) altitude at the Drop Zone, close to Mount Everest.

        
       
    

2008, Sept 22 - Oct 6:

After a couple of days in Kathmandu, the team flew to Lukla for acclimatisation and went trekking in the Himalayas. Later followed final instruction on survival training, use of oxygen and helmet. The charity effort within WimmerSpace Everest Sky Dive for this historic adventure raised USD 79.000.   

2008, Aug 19 - 20: Final training and equipment testing in Switzerland close to Mont Blanc ahead of the historic Mount Everest Sky Dive.

2007, Oct 17-18:

Per Wimmer successfully completes the first part of the Virgin Galactic training program. This part included two days of centrifuge simulations with forces up to 6 Gx and 3 Gz at the NASTAR training facility outside Philadelphia, USA. A exact simulation profile for SpaceShipTwo was also successfully completed. Ahead of this session, Per had to undergo extensive medical checks at the London Bridge Hospital and came out with a “clean bill of health.”

2007 - and onwards:

2007, Oct 6:

Wimmer Space makes a second donation to Hospice Foundations totalling USD 10.000 in 2007. The Finish company Uponor buys a Wimmer Space presentation at a galla auction.

The 50th anniversary of the beginning of the space age with the launch of Sputnik on Oct. 4, 1957. On Oct 4, 2007, Per Wimmer announces another beginning: The launch of his own investment bank, Wimmer Financial (www.WimmerFinancial.com).

2006, Aug: The “Wimmer Way” song is recorded at the PUK Studios, Denmark. The song is based on “The Lions Sleep Tonight” and re-written and song by Flemming “Bamse” Jorgensen and his band “Bamses Venner” together with Per Wimmer.


2005, Aug: Per Wimmer joins Man Securities/MF Global, part of the USD 60 bn hedge fund The MAN Group, before the USD 4 bn IPO spin-out in July 2007 as responsible for UK and Scandinavian institutional accounts.

2004, Oct 4: SpaceShipOne wins the Ansari X-Prize – a USD 10 Million prize for the first team to launch into space (above 62 Miles from Earth) and re-launch within 14 days and return safely. Per Wimmer congratulates the CEO of Scaled Composites, Burt Rutan, and test pilots Brian Binnie and Mike Melville for their achievements as well as Peter Diamandis, the founder of the X-Prize (Photos left to right).


2003: Per Wimmer joins leading AIM and UK investment bank, Collins Stewart, responsible for Institutional sales and sales trading to Northern Europe.
2002: Mark Shuttleworth becomes the first African and the second civilian to enter space and visit the International Space Station. Per Wimmer joins Mark in Star City for a session of centrifuge and Zero-G as well as L-39 fighter jet training, just prior to Mark’s launch. One Zero-G training session is completed together with NASA astronaut Guy Gardner (STS-27 Atlantis, Dec. 2-6, 1988 and STS-35 Columbia, Dec. 2-11 1990; see photo below). A team from the Discovery Channel is following Per Wimmer and his training in Russia for a documentary.


2001, April: The first private space traveler, American Dennis Tito, launches into space from Baikanour, Kazakhstan to the International Space Station. Per Wimmer joins Dennis Tito’s family for the launch on April 29, 2001. Prior to that launch, Per had completed his first Zero-G training, his first spin in the most powerful centrifuge in the world at Star City in Russia and, further, Per also flies the Russian MIG-25 fighter jet for the first time.


2000: Per Wimmer learns about the possibility to fly into space as a private citizen and - within 48 hours later -signs up for his first trip to space through Plenge & co (www.plengeco.dk) and Space Adventures (www.SpaceAdventures.com).


1998:

Per Wimmer joins Goldman Sachs &Co., New York, USA, and London, UK and ends up as Executive Director for Institutional Sales of Equity products to Scandinavian-based financial institutions. Goldman Sachs & Co. became a public traded company in 1999.
